Argentina: Javier Milei faces internal and external political friction

The administration of President Javier Milei is facing increasing political pressure from both traditional opposition figures and members of its own coalition.

Deputy Miguel Ángel Pichetto of Encuentro Federal criticized the government's political style, claiming that some advisors within the Executive branch view him as “dangerous.” Pichetto argued that the current administration lacks a vocation for dialogue, opting instead for a strategy of conflict, aggression, and the construction of enemies, a phenomenon he described as an epochal trend similar to movements seen in Europe and the United States.

Simultaneously, internal friction is rising within the ruling coalition. Key figures such as Senator Patricia Bullrich have publicly challenged the administration, most recently regarding budget negotiations and disability funding. Other notable internal critics include Vice President Victoria Villarruel, who has expressed concerns regarding the President's stability, and former deputy Marcela Pagano, who has frequently denounced management scandals. These internal tensions highlight a growing difficulty in maintaining political consensus within the Milei administration.
