Argentina judges hand down sentences in separate drug trafficking cases

In Posadas, Misiones, a court granted a suspended trial to Priscila Yohana Gallardo, accused of facilitating the shipment of more than six kilograms of marijuana from Misiones to Comodoro Rivadavia. Under the agreement, Gallardo must perform 333 hours of community service over a year, pay a 50,000‑peso contribution to a regional hospital, and comply with reporting and residence restrictions.

In Salta Province, a judge approved an abbreviated trial for eight defendants linked to the criminal group known as “El Zaire.” The men and women received prison sentences ranging from three to four years, with some sentences conditional on good behavior. The case stemmed from a raid that seized over 500 doses of cocaine and marijuana, along with other paraphernalia, after an anonymous tip led authorities to a drug‑selling operation in Villa San Antonio.
