Argentina judicial workers demand salary adjustments amid inflation
Judicial employees across Argentina are intensifying protests over wages that have fallen behind inflation. Union leader Federico Villone of the Unión de Empleados de la Justicia de la Nación (UEJN) warned that salaries remain six to seven points below inflation and that the loss of purchasing power has deepened since late 2023. He said the union has already carried out more than 30 strike actions and will resume measures if negotiations with the Superior Tribunal de Justicia do not yield a salary recomposition.
In Córdoba, more than a thousand judicial workers gathered outside the Tribunales I building, led by Federico Cortelletti of the Asociación Gremial de Empleados del Poder Judicial (AGEPJ). The demonstrators demanded a new salary proposal, the advance of pending agreement tranches, a 5% seniority bonus for all categories, and the removal of penalties for strike days. Both unions called for the reopening of dialogue with the tribunal and highlighted the disparity between judges' salaries and those of court staff.
