Argentina jurisdictions show improved budgetary transparency

Recent reports highlight significant advancements in budgetary and administrative transparency across various Argentine jurisdictions.

Tierra del Fuego ranked first among the country's 24 jurisdictions in the 2025 Provincial Budgetary Transparency Index, developed by CIPPEC. The province achieved a perfect score of 10 out of 10, leading other provinces such as Córdoba, Entre Ríos, and La Pampa. The index evaluates the availability, detail, and timeliness of fiscal information, specifically noting Tierra del Fuego's comprehensive publication of expenditure execution across multiple classifications.

At the municipal level in Buenos Aires province, Mercedes was named one of the top ten municipalities for transparency according to a ranking by Municipios Argentinos. Scoring 77.8 out of 100, Mercedes secured eighth place. The evaluation analyzed nine variables, including budget execution, personnel costs, procurement, and access to public information. This follows previous recognition from the Argentine Association of Public Budget and Financial Administration (ASAP), which had previously awarded the municipality a maximum score for its public account visibility.
