Argentina labor unions: leadership changes and wage negotiations
Various labor organizations in Argentina are undergoing leadership transitions and negotiating wage adjustments. In Entre Ríos, José Ángel Allende has been re-elected as General Secretary of UPCN for the 2026–2030 term, supported by Deputy Secretary Cristina Melgarejo. The renewal was attended by Governor Rogelio Frigerio, highlighting a continued institutional dialogue between the union and the provincial government.
In the national sphere, Roberto Baradel has announced his candidacy for the presidency of the CTA de los Trabajadores, running on List 10 against Romina del Pla of the Multicolor List. The election is scheduled for November 3.
In the industrial and educational sectors, the Argentine Milling Industry Federation (FAIM) re-elected Diego Cifarelli for an eighth consecutive term. Meanwhile, the ATECH union in Chubut secured a salary improvement for teaching hierarchical positions through a revised teacher nomenclator. In Santa Cruz, the AMET union is seeking urgent wage increases during upcoming negotiations, while oilseed workers in northern Santa Fe reported steady activity at the Vicentin and Buyatti plants.
