Argentina launches free eye exams and glasses program in 22 towns

The Argentine government, through the Ver para Ser Libres initiative, is conducting free ophthalmological examinations and providing complimentary glasses to children aged 6 to 16 in 22 locations across the province. The program, coordinated by the provincial Ministry of Social Development and the national Ministry of Human Capital, begins its second stage on June 1 and runs for nine days, with daily schedules covering specific towns such as Pueblo Libertador, San Isidro, Malvinas, and Santa Rosa, among others. Support comes from the Ministry of Health and the National University of the Northeast, and the process includes a triage to identify candidates, medical assessment, glasses fabrication, and final delivery at no cost.

The initiative aims to improve visual health and educational performance for young residents, offering free frames and lenses selected by the beneficiaries. All activities operate between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with special hours announced locally as needed.
