Argentina launches free eye exams for children and low‑income residents

A new ophthalmology program began Monday in San Luis and Villa Mercedes, offering children and adolescents aged 6‑17 free vision tests and glasses. The initiative, coordinated by the national Ministry of Human Capital with provincial health and human development ministries, operates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will move to additional neighborhoods later in the week.

Separate mobile eye‑care units have been scheduled for San Martín on 23 June and Rawson on 3 July. Open to anyone aged six and older without social health coverage, the events provide eye examinations, lens prescriptions and a choice of frames. Participants must bring an ID document. Both efforts are part of the government’s “Te veo bien”/“Ver para ser libres” policy to improve visual health and quality of life for vulnerable populations in Argentina.
