Argentina launches guide to check winter gas subsidy via Mi Argentina app

Argentina's focused energy subsidy scheme (SEF) provides flat‑rate gas tariffs for eligible low‑income households during the winter months. Eligibility requires, among other criteria, that a family's total income not exceed three basic basket amounts (approximately ARS 4.4 million), ownership of fewer than two properties, and limited vehicle assets.

Households can verify whether they still receive the subsidy through the official Mi Argentina mobile application. After logging in, users select the “Trámites” section, where the current status of electricity and gas subsidies is displayed. If the subsidy is shown as active, billing should remain unchanged; otherwise, the same platform allows users to submit or update their information, including income declarations and family composition, via an electronic sworn statement. Existing registrants in the broader energy subsidy registry (RASE) do not need a separate application.

The program aims to protect vulnerable residential consumers from sudden price spikes by ensuring continued access to essential energy services throughout the colder season.
