Argentina launches tender for new military pier in Ushuaia

The Argentine Ministry of Defense has authorized a national public tender for the construction of a new military pier at the Integrated Naval Base in Ushuaia. The project, formalized through Resolution 704/2026, carries an official budget of approximately 189.3 billion pesos and is expected to take 36 months to complete. The works will include the pier itself, complementary infrastructure, and the acquisition of necessary machinery and equipment.

While the tender has been greenlit, concerns have been raised regarding the project's long-term financing. Current budget allocations for 2026 appear to cover only about 30% of the total contract value through contractor advances. The remaining 70%, estimated at over 132.5 billion pesos, relies on construction credits that are not currently secured in the 2026 or 2027 budget proposals. Consequently, the continuity of the project depends on future budgetary decisions by the Ministry of Economy and potential legislative action to ensure multi-year funding.
