In a separate debate, national deputy Silvana Giudici rejected a proposal by 75‑year‑old judge Carlos Mahiques to sanction exchanges of information between judges and journalists. Mahiques suggested creating an official press office to publish court decisions, claiming current reporting was “distorted or erroneous.” Giudici called the plan a violation of constitutional guarantees for the press and defended the confidentiality of journalistic sources.
