South American nations bid to host 2035 Rugby World Cup
Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Brazil have submitted a joint technical bid to World Rugby to host the 2035 Men’s Rugby World Cup. This regional proposal aims to bring the tournament to South America for the first time.
The bid outlines a plan to utilize 11 stadiums across 10 cities. Argentina would host eight venues, including the Monumental, José Amalfitani, and Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona. The remaining three venues include the Maracanã in Brazil, the Estadio Nacional in Chile, and the Estadio Centenario in Uruguay.
World Rugby will conduct site visits and feasibility assessments following the submission. A preferred host will be announced in May 2027, with the final decision by the World Rugby Council expected in November 2027. The regional bid faces competition from other interested nations, including Spain and Japan.
