Claudio Barrelier sends video from prison targeting Agostina Vega's mother

Claudio Barrelier, the primary suspect in the femicide of 14-year-old Agostina Vega in Córdoba, released a video from the Cruz del Eje prison directed at the victim's mother, Melisa Heredia. In the recording, Barrelier accused Heredia of producing pornography with her daughter and claimed she was complicit in the crime, stating, “I want you to be face to face so that, once and for all, the truth can be known.”

Barrelier's comments follow a virtual hearing in a separate investigation regarding the possession of child sexual abuse material, a charge he denied. His legal representative, Carlos Nayi, described the video as “a total falsehood” and noted that Heredia is “destroyed by helplessness.” A criminal complaint has been filed in Córdoba to investigate how the prisoner was able to record and distribute such a message.

Agostina Vega's body was discovered in a field in the Ampliación Ferreyra neighborhood in late May. Barrelier remains in custody awaiting trial.
