Argentina motorcycle fatalities reach 47% of total traffic deaths

Motorcyclists accounted for 47% of all traffic fatalities in Argentina during 2025, according to a study by the organization Luchemos por la Vida. This represents a significant increase from 2012, when motorcyclists made up 34% of road deaths.

In certain provinces, the proportion of fatalities involving motorcyclists reached as high as 60%. The study notes that this trend coincides with the rise of delivery workers using motorcycles as a primary means of employment for digital application-based services. These workers face high risks due to long shifts and pressure to meet delivery times.

Research conducted in the City of Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires identified several risky behaviors, including failure to use helmets, filtering between vehicles, mobile phone use while driving, and ignoring traffic lights or pedestrian priority. While 90% of interviewed motorcyclists considered an accident likely, many attributed accidents to the behavior of car drivers rather than their own actions. Additionally, 100% of those interviewed had not completed any safe driving courses.
