Argentina municipal agencies train responders on animal handling and El Niño risks

In Río Grande, the municipal Veterinary Services organized a hands‑on training for the city’s volunteer firefighters on safe animal restraint and basic veterinary first aid. The session, held at Detachment No. 3 "José Artaza," combined theory and practice, and participants received certificates upon completion.

In San Rafael, the municipal Emergency Operations Center, Civil Defence, the Reservoir Safety Regulator and other local groups joined a video‑conference workshop on the El Niño climate phenomenon. Dr. Juan Rivera, an independent CONICET researcher, explained the current strong El Niño conditions, a 97% chance of continuation through 2027, and the potential for above‑average rainfall in the Cuyo region, emphasizing the need for updated early‑warning systems and coordinated planning.
