Argentina Municipal Employees Transition to Permanent and Temporary Status
Mayor Marcelo Matzkin of Zárate announced that a group of cooperative municipal workers, most of them women who have provided services for more than 12 years, will be incorporated into the municipal temporary staff. The move gives them access to social security, pension contributions, bank‑deposited salaries and other labor rights. The municipality also pledged support for those still completing their studies.
In Roque Pérez, Mayor Maximiliano Sciaini said over 30 municipal workers will be transferred to permanent positions under a new collective agreement with union groups ATE, UPCN and the Municipal Workers' Union. The agreement, signed in August 2025, includes a 10% salary increase, a higher presentism allowance, and reduces the probation period from one year to six months. The changes aim to regularize long‑term employees and improve financial stability within the municipality.
