Argentina municipal textile programs distribute blankets and bulk supplies

On June 30, the municipality of San Francisco, Argentina, completed a new delivery of blankets and warm clothing under the "Al frío le ponemos corazón" campaign. The hand‑made items, created by local knitters, were given to the Grupo Lucía organization at Hospital J. B. Iturraspe and to the Arturo Taglioretti Child Development Center, helping children and isolated patients stay warm during winter. The event featured performances by the Municipal School of Arabic Dance and local musicians.

Separately, the Olavarría municipal government continued its collective‑purchasing scheme for textile entrepreneurs. In June, twelve women‑owned workshops bought more than 500,000 Argentine pesos worth of yarn, needles, zippers, elastics and other sewing supplies. Coordinated by the Popular Economy unit of the Secretariat of Economic Development, the program aims to lower production costs, increase material stocks and support small‑scale garment makers.

Both initiatives illustrate how Argentine municipalities are mobilising local textile skills to provide social aid and economic assistance to small producers.
