La Rioja sues national government over alleged 1 trillion peso fund diversion
The government of La Rioja has filed a legal complaint against the national administration of Javier Milei, alleging the fraudulent diversion of nearly 1 trillion pesos. The funds, originally intended for the Integrated Road System (SisVial) to finance vital road infrastructure, were reportedly misused to support the national fiscal surplus.
La Rioja has joined the case as a complainant, represented by attorney Jorge Yoma. The complaint targets President Milei, Economy Minister Luis Caputo, and other officials, seeking investigation into potential crimes including fraud against public administration, abuse of authority, and breach of official duties.
According to the allegations, a significant portion of the collected funds was diverted into financial investments, such as public bonds and fixed-term deposits, rather than being used for strategic projects like the Bioceanic Corridor. This diversion has reportedly caused severe damage to provincial infrastructure and connectivity.
