Argentina municipalities implement new social and urban policies
The Ushuaia City Council has approved an ordinance to establish June 12 as the “Cyberbullying Day – Naza is no longer going to school” within the municipality. The initiative, proposed by Councilwoman Vanina Ojeda, aims to create awareness and prevention tools regarding digital harassment across social media, messaging platforms, and video games. The date is inspired by the case of Nazareno Gitali, a teenager from Buenos Aires province. The program intends to involve educational institutions, public agencies, and families to facilitate early detection and intervention.
In Buenos Aires, Law 6965 has been published in the Official Bulletin, mandating the progressive installation of bilingual signage in Spanish and English. This measure will affect public spaces, urban furniture, and the subway network within the Microcentro and Historic Center areas. To optimize budget resources, the implementation will occur gradually, coinciding with scheduled maintenance, updates, or the replacement of existing signs.
