Argentina: Mystery surrounds missing Malvinas flag at Casa Rosada

The historic Malvinas flag, which was hoisted in the Falkland Islands by Dardo Cabo and a group of Peronist militants over sixty years ago, remains missing from its display case at the Casa Rosada.

The commemorative display, inaugurated by former President Cristina Kirchner in 2014, was noted to be empty in February 2025. At that time, presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni stated the flag had been removed for restoration due to deterioration. However, twenty months have passed without the flag being returned to its place of honor in the Patio Malvinas.

A group of 26 Peronist deputies, led by Eduardo Valdés, has requested official information to clarify the current status of the flag and the timeline for its restitution. The Casa Rosada Museum, responsible for preserving historical heritage, has not provided specific details regarding the flag's condition or whereabouts.
