Argentina National Parks to expand tourism and private investment
The National Parks Administration (APN) has announced a strategy for 2026 and 2027 aimed at expanding tourism activities within protected areas and attracting private investment for infrastructure and new ventures. Under the continued leadership of Sergio Álvarez, the agency seeks to give tourism a more prominent role by diversifying activity offerings, improving services, and distributing visitor traffic across different sectors of the national parks.
The plan focuses on nature-based tourism and sports activities while simplifying regulations for tourism providers. As part of this expansion, the APN authorized 153 new tourism providers across 11 national parks during 2025. The official projection for 2026 is to exceed four million visitors across the national protected areas. This policy aims to balance local economic development and tourism promotion with the necessary conservation standards for environmentally sensitive territories.
