Argentina official receives 110 million peso severance before new state job

Daniel Alfredo Neira, a former official at the National Communications Entity (Enacom), received a severance payment of approximately 110 million pesos following his departure on July 31. The following day, August 1, he began a new managerial role at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), an agency under the Secretariat of Agriculture.

Records indicate that the administrative processes for Neira’s new position at INTA began on July 1, roughly 23 days before his official departure from Enacom. The severance package from Enacom included approximately 73 million pesos for seniority, nearly 10 million pesos for notice, and 24 million pesos for unused vacation time.

The rapid transition has caused internal friction within INTA, where the Board of Directors is reportedly reviewing the appointment. Critics within the public sector have questioned the ethics of the arrangement, noting that the official moved between state roles within 24 hours after receiving a significant taxpayer-funded payout.
