Entre Ríos implements emergency measures for El Niño

Authorities in Entre Ríos, Argentina, are intensifying preparations to mitigate the impact of the El Niño phenomenon. Governor Rogelio Frigerio has inaugurated a Command and Management Center at the Central Police Headquarters to centralize real-time information and coordinate the deployment of resources, including vessels, vehicles, and specialized personnel, to manage potential flooding and severe weather.

Frigerio has held coordination meetings with various mayors to align prevention strategies, including riverbed cleaning and infrastructure maintenance. In Gualeguaychú, Mayor Mauricio Davico expressed specific concern regarding the Gualeguaychú River basin, noting that the city's southern location makes it a confluence point for rising waters. Discussions between provincial and local leaders also covered public health infrastructure and gas network expansions.

To support the agricultural sector, a technological platform developed by BolsaCER and UNLP has been launched to provide high-resolution rainfall projections every nine kilometers. Additionally, the provincial government has established a Sanitary Emergency Committee to coordinate hospital responses, vaccination schemes, and epidemiological monitoring in anticipation of water-related health risks.
