Argentina oilseed industry stalemate and textile sector wage agreement
Negotiations between the Argentine Oilseed Industry Chamber (CIARA) and the two oilseed workers' unions – the Oilseed Workers and Employees Union (SOEA) and the Federation of Workers of the Oilseed Complex, Cotton Unloaders and Related Sectors (FTCDIOyARA) – have stalled. CIARA proposed monthly salary adjustments tied to the INDEC price index after granting a 13.8% increase from January to May, which it says is close to the 14.7% inflation rate. The unions rejected the offer, and the mandatory conciliation period set by the Ministry of Labour ends on 18 June, with a possible extension to 25 June.
Separately, the Argentine Textile Industries Federation (FITA) and the Argentine Textile Workers’ Association (AOT) have reached a wage agreement for textile workers covering 1 April to 30 June 2026. The pact defines basic monthly salaries for eight job categories, ranging from 3,231 to 3,739 Argentine pesos, and includes a 20% attendance bonus. The agreement will be reviewed after the June consumer price index is published.
