Argentina unions win wage hikes for aceiteros, truckers, press

The Argentine oil‑seed workers’ federation (FTCIODyARA) and the Sindicato de Obreros y Empleados Aceiteros reached a paritaria that lifts the peón salary to $2,578,400 from 1 July 2026 and to $2,719,040 from 1 September 2026, with a retroactive payment for May‑June 2026.

The national truck drivers’ union (FNTC) and the transport employer chambers approved an extra non‑remunerative payment of $30,000 for June 2026 and a basic‑salary increase of $27,258 effective July 2026. The new basic for a first‑category driver rises to about $1,060,010, with a further rise in August.

Press workers covered by collective agreement 541/08 have endured three months of salary freeze after the April 2026 negotiation deadline. Unions (FATPREN) argue that the current basic of $802,474 is far below the inflated basket price of $1,498,741 and demand an urgent salary recomposition.

The sand‑transport union (SICONARA) warned that stalled wage talks could jeopardise sand supply to the Vaca Muerta energy complex, underscoring the broader economic stakes of these negotiations.
