Argentina: One in five pharmaceutical labs lack recent inspections

Official data in Argentina reveals a significant gap in pharmaceutical oversight, with one in five authorized laboratories having not undergone an official inspection by the National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) in over five years.

Of the 235 authorized pharmaceutical laboratories in the country, 51 have not received inspections regarding their processes, building conditions, or quality standards for more than half a decade. While the lack of inspection does not automatically confirm irregularities, health policy specialists have raised concerns regarding the state's ability to maintain continuous surveillance and have called for increased transparency and better planning in inspection schedules to ensure drug safety and traceability.
