Argentina opposition figures decry President Milei amid voter apathy and anti‑president rhetoric

Tomás Figueroa, the leader of La Libertad Avanza in Santiago del Estero, said the province’s low electoral participation stems from frequent elections, confusion over the roles of national and provincial authorities, and the lack of political and fiscal autonomy for municipalities. He warned that voter fatigue and uncertainty about who controls social benefits diminish turnout, and urged a united opposition, mentioning recent candidacies of Alejandro Parnás and Beatriz Yunes.

Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof responded to a perceived anti‑Argentina campaign, stating that “the Argentine people are not the same as President Javier Milei.” He highlighted the nation’s solidarity, work ethic, production and community spirit, referenced the Malvinas, and delivered housing deeds to residents, including a veteran of the Falklands war.
