Trial of Roberto Carabajal starts in Río Grande over stepdaughter abuse

A criminal trial began in Río Grande, Argentina, against 42‑year‑old Roberto Carabajal. He is accused of repeatedly abusing his former partner’s daughter between 2009 and 2017. The charges include aggravated sexual abuse and attempted aggravated sexual assault, all committed while the victim lived with the defendant. The hearing opened with testimonies from the victim’s mother, a schoolteacher, and a forensic specialist, and the trial is expected to involve around 20 witnesses.

In a separate case in Rosario, a woman who worked as a caretaker for an elderly resident was arrested after violently robbing the senior, stealing cash, jewelry and other valuables. Police located the suspect two months later in a homeless shelter in Balcarce. During a hearing, prosecutors described the crime as an aggravated theft committed through abuse of trust, and the defence sought more lenient pre‑trial conditions.
