Argentina para‑volleyball team raises funds to attend Parasouth American Games in Colombia

Argentina's national para‑volleyball squad, comprising 32 athletes and staff from both the men's and women's teams, is launching a crowdfunding campaign to cover travel costs for the Parasouth American Games in Valledupar, Colombia, starting 4 July. A recent regulatory detail excluded the team from state funding for airfare, although the government will still finance registration, accommodation, meals and equipment. The athletes, including Sergio Barreyra, Diego Delgado, Griselda Colosia and Melanie Recalde, have set up two bank‑account aliases—UNIDOSPORELEQUIPO for the men and EQUIPOFEM for the women—to collect micro‑donations of a few thousand pesos each. They estimate roughly US$1,000 per person is needed. Participation is critical for maintaining Argentina’s second‑place ranking in South America and marks the country's first entry in a para‑volleyball Parasudamericano competition. The campaign aims to mobilize community support through a video and social‑media outreach, emphasizing the sport’s role in physical and mental rehabilitation for people with disabilities.
