Argentina pickup truck market shows segment growth
The medium pickup segment is gaining market share in Argentina, accounting for nearly three out of every four new pickup truck sales between January and September 2026. While the overall automotive market has seen a year-on-year decline, specific models are showing growth. The Chevrolet S10 recorded a 12% increase in registrations compared to the previous year.
Market leaders by volume include the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Volkswagen Amarok. Other notable performers include the Fiat Titano, which saw significant growth, and the introduction of the RAM Dakota and Chinese models such as the BYD Shark and Foton Tunland.
Pricing for October 2026 varies significantly across models. Entry-level double-cab options like the Nissan Frontier, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Hilux start around $48 to $49 million pesos. High-end models reach much higher price points, with the Ford Ranger Raptor priced at $117.8 million pesos and the Volkswagen Amarok V6 at $93.9 million pesos. Most sales in this segment are to private individuals, particularly for newer models like the Titano and Dakota.
