Argentina poised for strong peanut and corn export growth in 2026

PromArgentina, the Argentine agency for investment and trade promotion, met with the Cámara Argentina del Maní (CAM) to discuss expanding the country's peanut sector. The meeting highlighted that Argentine peanut exports in 2025 exceeded USD 1.08 billion for raw peanuts and USD 189 million for processed products, and explored participation in future trade fairs, including the World Peanut Meeting scheduled for 2028 in Argentina.

The USDA office in Buenos Aires projected that Argentina will plant 8.0 million hectares of corn in the 2026/27 season, only slightly below the previous year. It expects a harvest of 60.5 million tonnes, yielding an exportable surplus of 43.0 million tonnes, driven by lower fertilizer costs, favorable "Super Niño" rainfall, and sustained demand from the livestock and bio‑ethanol sectors, despite ongoing pest concerns.

Both reports underline Argentina’s aim to maintain and grow its role as a leading exporter of major agricultural commodities.
