Argentina police detain second suspect in murder of 19‑year‑old Benjamin Scerra

The body of 19‑year‑old Benjamin Scerra was found in Granadero Baigorria, near San Lorenzo, with more than 20 stab wounds. Prosecutor Aquiles Balbis released a photo of Alexis Hereñú, known as “El Corto,” who is considered the main material suspect and is still at large.

On Wednesday, investigators in Villa Gobernador Gálvez detained 18‑year‑old Luciano Ulises H. as a second suspect in the case. Police have not clarified his exact role in the homicide, but the arrest follows public protests demanding the capture of Hereñú.

Authorities say the victim’s body was initially kept in a refrigerated location before being abandoned a week after his disappearance. The investigation continues to locate Hereñú, who is described as having a shoulder tattoo and possibly having altered his appearance.
