Argentina police raids and leak probe lead to arrests

In the town of Junín de los Andes, Neuquén Province, police carried out a search ordered for illegal firearm possession. The operation seized a Samsung mobile phone hidden in the roof, two undocumented motorcycles and a man who had a pending judicial order was detained. Officers also recovered two small packets of a substance identified as compatible with cannabis.

In Avellaneda, Buenos Aires Province, a second police investigator was arrested on accusations of leaking confidential information about anti‑drug raids conducted on 29 May. The investigation follows the earlier detention of another officer and stems from an 11‑year‑old’s claim that her mother warned her to remove marijuana and a scale before the raid. The raids resulted in 18 operations, the arrest of two drug suspects, and seizure of narcotics. Both cases remain under judicial investigation.
