Argentina sees record rise in political disaffection

A study by the Pulsar Observatory at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) reveals a significant rise in political disaffection in Argentina, a phenomenon described as ‘ningunismo’. According to the ‘Creencias Sociales 2026’ report, 63% of Argentines express little to no interest in politics, marking a substantial increase from previous years.

The survey also indicates that 42% of respondents do not identify with any existing political party or space, the highest level recorded in the observatory's series. This group, characterized by a lack of partisan belonging while often positioning themselves ideologically in the center, represents a growing segment of the population.

In terms of political representation, the study found that only 26% of respondents feel represented by Peronism and 18% by La Libertad Avanza, leaving the ‘none’ category as the largest single group. Researchers note that this trend reflects a deep transformation in the relationship between Argentine citizens and traditional political structures.
