Argentina's 2027 Election Race Tightens Between Peronism and La Libertad Avanza

Buenos Aires Governor Jorge Macri said the PRO party could form an electoral alliance with Javier Milei's La Libertad Avanza (LLA) to block a return of kirchnerismo, emphasizing the need for a united front against the opposition.

Recent polls show the presidential contest for 2027 is extremely close. The University of San Andrés survey puts Peronism at 25% and LLA at 24% of voter intention, with 22% of respondents still undecided. Another poll by QSocial reports that 40% of Argentines reject both the Milei government and kirchnerismo, indicating a sizable centrist bloc.

Voter demographics differ: LLA performs best among men, higher‑income and middle‑age groups, while Peronism is stronger among women, lower‑income voters and those over 60. Among those who approve the current government, 65% would vote for LLA; among those who disapprove, 39% would choose Peronism. Overall, 62% express disapproval of the national administration, and 30% are satisfied with the country's direction.
