Argentina polls show rising demand for government change and opposition to primary elections

A June survey by the University of Buenos Aires' Observatorio de Psicología Aplicada, covering 2,184 respondents nationwide, found that 64% of Argentines prefer a change of government in the 2027 presidential election and view the current economy, politics and society negatively. Only 31% rated President Javier Milei’s administration as providing the best quality of life, compared with 49% who favored the previous Fernández administration.

Consultancy Isasi‑Burdman reported that roughly seven out of ten Argentines oppose the upcoming primary elections (PASO), with a recent measurement showing 65‑70% against holding them. The firm warned that the PASO could trigger market volatility, recalling the 2023 primary that sparked a surge in the dollar and required emergency economic measures. Provincial governors are also planning early elections, raising concerns about voter fatigue.
