Argentina President Javier Milei says he has no contact with AFA chief Claudio Tapia

President Javier Milei told the streaming channel La Casa that he does not know Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia, the president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), and that he is dissatisfied with the way the federation is run. He emphasized that the government does not interfere with judicial investigations involving Tapia, stating “I do not meddle in justice; let the courts do their work.”

Milei’s comments came as a U.S. preliminary investigation continues into alleged money‑laundering and tax‑fraud schemes linked to Tourprod, a company that managed funds for the AFA. While no formal charges have been filed against Tapia or other AFA officials, the probe has drawn attention to the federation’s financial dealings abroad.
