Investigators are examining the death of two‑year‑old Isabella in Villa Gesell after the child arrived at the municipal hospital without vital signs. A preliminary autopsy concluded that she died from obstructive asphyxia that caused severe hypoxemia and cardiac arrest. The case has drawn attention to the mother, Lucía Sosa, who previously lost two other daughters – Candela in 2013 and Jazmín in 2016 – under similar circumstances. Sosa was earlier charged with aggravated homicide for those deaths but was acquitted for lack of evidence. Prosecutor Juan Pablo Calderón now leads a new inquiry that includes a psychiatric assessment suggesting a possible Munchausen syndrome by proxy. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains open. Lucas Ruiz, Sosa’s 17‑year‑old son, testified publicly, demanding that his mother be detained or committed to psychiatric care.
