Argentina prosecutor to summon ex‑chief of staff Manuel Adorni over asset inconsistencies

The Directorate of Judicial Assistance in Complex Crimes (DAFI) delivered a technical report to federal prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita that identified numerous inconsistencies in the declared assets of former chief of staff Manuel Adorni and his wife Bettina Angeletti. The analysis covers the period from 14 December 2023 to the present, examining tax returns, bank movements, real‑estate acquisitions, expenditures and cryptocurrency transactions. The report notes an unexplained rise in Adorni’s wealth from roughly 25 million to 944 million pesos and finds no corroborating evidence from platforms such as Binance and Lemon Cash for the claimed Bitcoin gains.

Pollicita is now assessing whether to issue a formal request for patrimonial justification, which would require Adorni to explain the source of his assets. If the explanations are deemed insufficient, the prosecutor may request a subpoena for a declaratory interview during the ongoing winter judicial fair, expected to conclude by early August. The investigation continues to scrutinise both Adorni’s and Angeletti’s financial records.
