Argentina probes Insaurralde, Clerici, Cirio for money laundering

An accounting audit of former Argentine cabinet chief Martín Insaurralde’s assets found no evidence of payments to model Sofía Clerici, who accompanied him on a 2023 trip to Marbella. Clerici’s lawyer argued that the sole basis for her indictment is her gender and professional role, and asked the court to dismiss the charges. Prosecutors Sergio Mola and Diego Velasco also requested that Insaurralde’s sons be summoned for testimony.

A related investigation focuses on model and TV host Jésica Cirio, whose lavish expenditures on travel, luxury goods and services have been added to a case alleging money‑laundering and illicit enrichment. Cirio, like Clerici, denies wrongdoing and claims her wealth comes from her artistic and commercial activities. Authorities continue to examine bank records, property holdings and other assets to determine whether the spending aligns with declared income.
