Argentina probes two distinct female deaths: burned body in Neuquén and gunshot victim in Santa Fe
In Neuquén province, firefighters responding to a blaze at an abandoned site discovered the charred remains of a woman, aged about 28‑30. Criminal investigators determined the death was caused by carbon‑monoxide inhalation during the fire, and DNA testing is underway to confirm the victim’s identity, which may correspond to a missing homeless person.
In Santa Fe’s Villa Oculta neighborhood, police recovered a woman's body inside a large bag. Autopsy results identified her as 32‑year‑old Daiana Mercedes Arber and established the cause of death as gunshot wounds, classifying the case as a femicide. A suspect has been detained, and investigators continue to examine possible accomplices.
Both cases are under active judicial investigation, highlighting ongoing concerns over violence against women in Argentina.
