Argentina professionals return to university for second degrees

A survey conducted by UFLO University regarding 2026 enrollments highlights a growing trend of professionals returning to higher education to pursue second degrees. This phenomenon, known as “lifelong learning,” is driven by the need for specialization, career changes, or adaptation to complex economic environments.

The data shows a significant demographic shift in university classrooms. The average age of incoming students rose from 25 in 2025 to 27 in 2026. Specific programs show even higher averages, such as a sterilization licensure cycle with an average age of just over 40 and a martial arts technical degree averaging 39 years old.

Additionally, there has been a 14 percentage point increase in the segment of students who are also working, rising from 44.2% to 58.6%. These students prioritize efficiency, flexibility, and rapid labor market integration.
