Argentina proposes AI‑friendly legal and tax regime

President Javier Milei published an opinion piece in the Financial Times outlining a plan to make Argentina the world’s most attractive jurisdiction for artificial‑intelligence companies. The proposal rests on three pillars: keeping AI development free of premature state regulation; creating a new corporate category called “non‑human corporations” that can be operated by AI agents or robots and enjoy limited‑liability protection; and offering a competitive fiscal regime with a low corporate tax rate, subject to full disclosure of ultimate beneficiaries.

Milei likens the initiative to the 17th‑century Dutch trade model, saying Buenos Aires could become for AI what Amsterdam was for navigation. The plan is supported by Economy Minister Federico Sturzenegger and references recent foreign investment, such as PayPal co‑founder Paul Thiel’s relocation to Argentina amid concerns over U.S. tax proposals.
