Argentina prosecutors reopen investigation into 2011 French citizens' murders

Prosecutors in Argentina have reopened investigations into the 2011 double homicide of French citizens Cassandre Bouvier and Houria Moumni in Quebrada de San Lorenzo. A new specialized prosecution unit is seeking to annul the dismissal of Walter Lasi, the father of Gustavo Lasi, who is the only person currently convicted of the crime.

The prosecution argues there was a disparity in how evidence was evaluated. Specifically, they claim that genetic evidence and links to the murder weapon were treated as incriminatory for other defendants but were used to exonerate Walter Lasi. The unit is also awaiting results from new DNA studies conducted on samples sent to France.

Additionally, investigators are pursuing an anonymous letter that suggested involvement by individuals in power. To clarify the origins of this document, prosecutors have requested assistance from Spanish authorities to locate a woman identified as the potential author. They intend to conduct a confrontation and handwriting analysis to determine the letter's authenticity and motivations.
