Argentina: 'Marcha de la Bronca' protests against Milei's economic policies

The 'Marcha de la Bronca' (March of Anger) saw widespread demonstrations across Argentina on Saturday, September 19, 2026, organized primarily by the Frente de Izquierda. The central mobilization in Buenos Aires moved from Congress to Plaza de Mayo, involving more than 350 organizations, including unions, student groups, and human rights defenders. Key figures such as Myriam Bregman and Nicolás del Caño led the movement, which aimed to organize opposition to President Javier Milei's economic policies.

Protesters issued a manifesto demanding increased salaries and pensions, a ban on layoffs, and the reversal of labor reforms. They also called on the Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT) to initiate a national general strike. The demonstrations were not limited to the capital; simultaneous mobilizations occurred in approximately 30 to 60 cities nationwide, including Santiago del Estero, Santa Rosa, and several locations in Tierra del Fuego.

During the Buenos Aires march, the City Police arrested seven individuals, aged 20 to 26, for allegedly participating in a theft ring targeting demonstrators. Meanwhile, the National Ministry of Security implemented anti-picket protocols in key areas to manage the crowds.
