Argentina governors inaugurate new health centers in Santiago del Estero and Buenos Aires
Governor Elías Suárez opened the new Unidad Primaria de Atención (UPA) No. 15 in the Sarmiento neighbourhood of the provincial capital. The facility will serve as a central hub for complex consultations for more than a dozen local health centres and will offer services such as general medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, nutrition, psychology, cardiology, dentistry, ophthalmology, imaging, kinesiology, spirometry and a clinical laboratory.
Governor Axel Kicillof inaugurated the new Centro de Atención Primaria de Salud (CAPS) “Papa Francisco” in Castelar, Morón. The centre, built with an investment of 556 million pesos, includes four general consult rooms, a gynecology office, a dental office, a vaccination area, a pharmacy, a multipurpose hall and provides psychology, obstetrics and diabetology services. The opening was framed as a response to national austerity measures and a critique of the federal government’s health policy.
