Argentina pushes provincial road projects while Ruta 40 Sur remains stalled

The reconstruction of Ruta 40 Sur, a key highway linking San Juan and Mendoza, stays on hold as construction firms demand concrete guarantees and advance payments. Companies cite repeated arrears and the termination of their contract, which led to the lay‑off of about 120 workers. In contrast, the Chaco provincial government reports steady progress on the paving of Ruta 30 towards Laguna Limpia. Governor Leandro Zdero, overseeing the work, said the second stage is within seven kilometres of the town and aims for completion before year‑end, funded entirely by provincial resources. The project is expected to improve connectivity for the livestock‑driven region and enhance emergency access.
