Argentina railway developments in Chubut and Río Negro

The Chubut provincial government has confirmed the November travel schedule for the historic steam locomotive service, La Trochita. The program includes eleven departures on the Esquel to Nahuelpan route and three services between El Maitén and Ingeniero Bruno Thomae. This follows a busy October where the service transported approximately 4,000 passengers.

In Río Negro, the state-owned railway company Tren Patagónico S.A. has launched a tender for infrastructure works on the Tren del Valle line between Cipolletti and General Roca. The project, with an official budget of approximately 1.78 billion pesos, involves the adaptation of platforms, lighting, and fencing at five locations: Cipolletti, General Fernández Oro, Allen, Coronel J. J. Gómez, and General Roca. This tender follows a recent Ministry of Economy resolution assigning the operation of passenger trains across the Villa Regina-Neuquén corridor to the province of Río Negro.
