Argentina raises gas and electricity tariffs, affecting consumers nationwide

The Argentine government approved new tariff tables for natural gas and electricity, publishing the measures in the Official Gazette. ENARGAS issued Resolution 39/2026, confirming a 2.81% increase for gas and a 1.5% rise for electricity in the Greater Buenos Aires area, with other jurisdictions set to follow regional regulator decisions. The gas tariff revisions include specific fixed fees and per‑cubic‑meter rates for each region, such as a fixed charge of 13,034.97 pesos and 361.63 pesos per m³ in the Buenos Aires province, and higher rates in Mendoza, Chubut, Santa Cruz, Neuquén, Corrientes and Formosa. Subsidies for vulnerable households remain in place to mitigate the impact. In response to the higher costs, energy specialists have offered consumers a set of practical measures to reduce electricity consumption, including maintaining moderate indoor temperatures, sealing drafts, using inverter technology, regular maintenance, and selecting high‑efficiency appliances.
