Argentina Reactivates Probe into Illegal Intelligence and Hacker Network Targeting Judges

Federal judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi ordered the virtual testimony of three suspects in Argentina’s renewed illegal‑intelligence case. Former police officer Ariel Zanchetta, hacker Ezequiel Nuñes Pinheiro and Tomás Patricio Hválica – the creator of the Dark PFA platform that provided access to sensitive databases – were summoned for statements between June 17 and June 24.

The investigation seeks to determine whether an organized structure carried out unlawful espionage against Supreme Court judges Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz and Ricardo Lorenzetti, other magistrates, and public officials such as former security minister Marcelo D’Alessandro and interior minister Diego Santilli. Accusations include unauthorized phone‑line registrations, database hacks and the use of deep‑web tools. The court has also tasked the National Gendarmerie’s forensic unit with analysing seized digital devices and communications.
