Argentina receives second batch of six F-16 fighter jets
Argentina has received its second batch of six F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets, landing at the Área Material Río Cuarto in Córdoba on September 29, 2026. This delivery brings the total number of aircraft received to 12, marking the halfway point of a 24-unit acquisition from Denmark valued at US$300 million.
The second shipment consists of four F-16AM single-seat and two F-16BM two-seat aircraft. The long-distance ferry flight from the Skrydstrup Air Base in Denmark included technical stops in Zaragoza, Spain, and the Canary Islands, followed by a stop in Natal, Brazil. During the Atlantic crossing, the jets utilized mid-air refueling from United States Air Force KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft.
Defense Minister Carlos Presti, alongside various military leaders and the U.S. Ambassador, received the aircraft. The program, known as Peace Condor, aims to restore supersonic interception capabilities to the Argentine Air Force. The remaining 12 aircraft are scheduled to arrive between 2027 and 2028, with the fleet intended to be permanently stationed at the VI Air Brigade in Tandil.
